Paper Mache Cones

Aleene’s Tacky Glue

Non-stick mat or parchment paper

Extra Fine Glitter (I like to mix silver and gold and diamond)

Paint brush (to spread glue)

When glue gun is fully charged, heat until ready. For straight lines, hold tip of gun just above paper mache surface and draw lines. When you start at the bottom, you can space the lines approximately ½” apart but remember that the lines will all converge at the top of the cone. Be generous with the glue application as you want thick lines. Repeat until cone is covered in vertical lines.

For dots, start at the back seam line and draw a line of dots by placing the tip onto the cone, squeeze trigger until desired size of dot, and then lift. Offset each line of dots to create an all-over dotted pattern.

Get creative! A fun pattern can also be created with squiggly lines and dots. Remember again to keep your lines and dots thick because if too thin, they can “disappear” when covered with glitter.

To remove any thin glue strings, quickly heat the surface with a heat gun. Be sure to keep the gun moving at all times so that you don’t overheat. You only want to heat to remove the strings and not the glue that you just applied!

Working a section at a time, squeeze the tacky glue over the surface and spread with your finger.

Use a brush to move the glue around the surface, removing any excess glue from the nooks and crannies.
